The Indonesian Market: Fam Trip for Travel Agencies

The Foundation invited four travel agents from Jakarta to a familiarization trip

   The Foundation for Kansai Region Promotion invited four major travel agents from Jakarta to a familiarization trip from the 1st to 6th of September. This trip aimed to help develop travel packages that will attract the upper middle class and affluent class of overseas Chinese in Indonesia. This trip introduced the tourist attractions in Tottori, Kobe and Osaka as new destinations that could satisfy such Indonesian tourists in terms of culture and food.

   The Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution in Kobe aroused the participants' interest because Indonesia had also experienced big earthquakes and tsunamis like Japan. In Tottori prefecture, they enjoyed the rich nature and culture, such as Tottori Sand Dunes and pear pickings. We also conducted a workshop during the trip to introduce the attractions of Tottori, and other model tourist routes that included the areas we could not visit on this trip. We hope this information will help develop their new travel packages other than so-called “golden” routes.
  The Foundation will continue to conduct promotional activities to attract the Indonesian market, as well as following up this familiarization trip.
