Winter Illumination Event in Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe

[OSAKA Hikari-Renaissance 2012 –Water and Light Harmony]
 Osaka Hikari Renaissance, a light event and one of popular winter attractions in Osaka, is to be held this year, too. From December 14 (Fri.) through 25 (Tue.), major buildings in Nakanoshima area, the symbol of Water Metropolis Osaka, such as Osaka City Hall, Osaka City Central Public Hall and Nakanoshima Park and other spots will be beautifully illuminated between 17:00-22:00 every day during the period. Also from December 14 (Fri.) to January 20 (Sun.) Mido-suji Boulevard, the main street of Osaka, is decorated with colorful lights between 17:00-23:00. The illumination lasts about 1.9km long between 2 crossing points on Midosuji; Yodoyabashi crossing (Tosabori-dori) and Shinbashi crossing (Nagahori-dori), which is the longest illumination in a straight line in Japan. The Street shining brilliantly will welcome visitors in appearance different from daytime. Please visit Osaka Hikari-Renaissance to feel the attractions of the city of water and light.

[Kyoto Arashiyama Hanatouro - Full of Japanese Atmosphere]
 Kyoto Arashiyama Hanatouro will be held from Dec.8 to 17. Temples, shrines, other cultural assets, and townscapes of the Saga Arashiyama area, one of the popular tourists destinations in Kyoto City, will be delicately decorated by open air lantern and flower arrangements.
Entire Togetsukyo Bridge and its surrounding area, and bamboo grove footpath from Nomiya Shrine leading to Okouchi Sanso Teien are also illuminated creating a charming atmosphere full of Japanese taste throughout.

[Kobe Luminarie – The Art of Lights]
 Kobe Luminarie, the annual festival of illumination in Kobe, first staged in Dec.1995, when the Great Hanshin Awaji Earthquake hit the southern Hyogo Prefecture, to wish the repose of the souls of the victims and express hopes for the city’s restoration and renaissance. The event has been held every winter since then and this year marks the 18th year. In old foreign settlement area and Higashi-Yuenchi Park, wooden arch-like structures of varied designs will be decorated with colorful lights, creating 3-dimensional artistic atmosphere. Theme of this year is “La Luce di KIZUNA” (Tie of Light). Solemn arts of lights will peacefully welcome visitors to Kobe.
