The season of autumn leaves has come! Tips on nice viewing spots -Jojakkoji Temple

[Jojakko-ji Temple]

Jojakko-ji Temple is a temple of Nichiren sect of Buddhism, located at the foot of Mt. Ogura, in Ukyo-ku of Kyoto City. In autumn, trees along stone paved path connecting the temple gate to the main hall are aflame with autumn colors. Especially, those around Niomon gate with a thatched roof have been noted as one of the most beautiful leaves in Kyoto. In early December, in the final stage of fall foliage, fallen leaves cover the stone steps creating splendid red-leaves-tunnel at your feet, as well as the one over your head. If you go up to Tahouto (important cultural asset) area, you can command a fine view of cityscape of Kyoto. During the period of an illumination event, “Arashiyama Hanatouro”, the temple is also illuminated creating spectacular atmosphere.
