Int’l Travel Fair in Malaysia

From Sep.6 to 8, the Foundation, in collaboration with Osaka Government Tourism Bureau and Universal Studios Japan, participated in annual “MATTA Fair Kuala Lumpur 2013” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to promote the attractiveness of the Kansai Region of Japan.

MATTA Fair, organized by MATTA(the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents), is an international travel fair designed for the general public of Malaysia. It is a year-round event held in major cities but the ones held in Kuala Lumpur in every March and September are the largest in scale and the package tours planned by travel agents, flight tickets and advertisements by foreign countries/regions are available at the fair.
The venue was full of visitors during the 3-day-fair, demonstrating the high level of interest in travel among Malaysian people.

According to JNTO, the number of Malaysian tourists to Japan in 2012 exceeded 130,000, reaching a new high, and also due to the announcement of visa exemption for short stay in this July, the number of Malaysian visitors in the month increased by 25% compared with that of the same month of the previous year.
Malaysian market has big potentials to grow including the markets of Muslim and local cities such as Penang, Kota Kinabalu, and other cities, in addition to vigorous consumption as a result of rapid economic growth. The foundation will continue to implement diverse promotional campaigns targeting Malaysia.
