Autumn Scenery at Kompuku-ji Temple


The attached are autumn scenery at Kompuku-ji Temple. The Temple originally built in 864 was visited by revered haiku poet, Matsuo Basho and Yosa Buson in Edo Period. In the compound of the temple, you will find Basho-an cottage where Basho stayed.

The garden of the temple is a classic rock garden based on Zen style. A small path goes around the back of the garden and climbs a slope to reach Basho-an cottage full of seasonal atmosphere, where you can commands a bird’s-eye view of Kyoto city.

Access: 15 min walk from Ichijoji Station on Eizan-dentetsu Railway
