Umekouji Park-Autumn Leaves Festiva

“Umekouji Park-Autumn Leaves Festival,” a light-up event of Umekouji Park in fall, will be held this year too. “Suzaku-no-niwa,” a Japanese garden, will be fantastically illuminated at night and about 150 trees of autumn leaves and red pines in the garden will emerge beautifully in the night sky.

The best part of the attraction is “Mizukagami,” a pond in the center of the garden. The shallow pond only 1 centimeter deep, with its floor covered with flat polished black granite, reflects the surrounding scenery like a mirror. Illuminated autumn leaves are reflected upside down in the pond, which makes it the best photo shooting spot for spectacular view unique to Suzaku-no-niwa.

Another attractive point is that the large garden is not crowded and you can stroll calmly and slowly. Umekouji Park is conveniently located, only about a 15-minute walk west from Kyoto Station.  Popular facilities such as the Kyoto Aquarium and the Kyoto Railway Museum are also located in the same area. (The Kyoto Aquarium will open at night too.)

Please come and enjoy the “Umekouji Park - Autumn Leaves Festival” at night in fall.
