Special exhibit of “Unknown Buddha - statue of Buddha in medieval Wakasa” to commemorate 3rd anniversary of the Museum renewal

Statues of Buddha produced in the Wakasa district of Fukui Prefecture from the Kamakura era to the Muromachi era are specially exhibited. Statues of Buddha in these eras feature a lively look and powerful figure with full of individuality. Please enjoy the spectacular exhibition of a row of about 30 statues of Buddha including standing statues of 12 protective deities of Myotsuji temple in Obama City and important cultural properties.

Lecturer: Mr. Joshin Muraoka, a Buddhist sculptor of Obama City
- Hands-on lecture “Let’s make small items with a motif of Buddhist sculpture using Wakasa Washi.”

- Commemorative lecture “Buddhist belief in the medieval age and statue of Buddha in the Wakasa district”

General 400 yen, university/senior high school students 300 yen, and elementary/junior high school students 200 yen.
