Yuasa Andon Art Exhibition

Yuasa Town, where old streetscapes and traditional buildings are preserved, will be the venue for the Yuasa Andon Art Exhibition (andon: traditional Japanese paper lamp).
Yuasa district in Yuasa Town was registered as the 79th (and Wakayama’s first) Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings by the Japanese government on December 19, 2006. Taking this opportunity, the Yuasa Andon Art Exhibition was launched so as to create andon-lit night views that match perfectly with the traditional streetscapes, encouraging visitors to stroll around the district. This year’s exhibition is the eleventh of these events.
The old and elegant streets are gently lit by handmade andon gathered from throughout the country, and the light embraces the whole town. Please come and enjoy the scenery.
