""OSAKA Hikari Renaissance,"" an annual illumination festival being held this year for the eighth time, has been well established as a wintertime attraction in Osaka. Last year saw a record-breaking 3.04 million visitors. The main venue for the festivities is the Nakanoshima area. Framed by two rivers flowing in the city center, the island area has the Osaka City Central Public Hall, the Museum of Oriental Ceramics and other cultural facilities as well as Nakanoshima Park, a place of recreation and relaxation popular among Osaka citizens.
In the main festival area, ""Starlight City Square,"" with the walls of Osaka City Hall's main entrance decorated with an illumination tree, has been upgraded from last year. Another attraction is ""France Avenue,"" with the street leading to the central public hall gorgeously lit up with white and gold lights with ""champagne"" as the theme. Meanwhile, on the lawn in the east area is “Mizu Monogatari 2010~Aqua Dream~,” an approximately 100-meter long river of light. Other programs include a skating link named “OSAKA Hikari Renaissance  Nakanoshima Ice Skate Link” in the west area and much more. (Photo: Osaka City Central Public Hall illuminated last year)
