Lantern Floating and Fireworks Display

Having started in 1950, this is one of the famous events during the bon festival. Approximately 6,000 lanterns of three different colors are floated down the Matsubara Coast, while more than 1,000 jiwari fireworks and 12,000 skyrockets are set off. This is one of the biggest fireworks displays in the area along the Sea of Japan.

Access Two minutes walk from Matsubara Koen-guchi bus stop, which can be reached from JR Tsuruga Station by Fukutetsu bus bound for Matsuba-cho. Fifteen minutes by car from Tsuruga Interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway.
