Osaka casino's economic ripple effects estimated

The Daiwa Research Institute Inc. has announced its estimate for economic ripple effects of 48.2 billion yen to be brought to the seven Kansai prefectures of Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo, Shiga, Nara, Wakayama and Fukui in case a casino is opened in Osaka. The institute made the estimate based on a proposal by the Osaka Prefectural Government to designate Kansai International Airport and Rinku Town as 'special international exchange zones' and create a compound entertainment zone with a casino as its center.
The calculation was made with no consideration given to the economic effects from the construction of the casino but with effects from consumption after it is created on the basis of the estimate that one million people will enter the casino annually and is assumed that a visitor for a day will spend 15,000 yen.
