Welcome receptions forASEM Finance Ministers' Meeting in Kobe

The third Asia-Europe (ASEM) Finance Ministers' Meeting will be held in Kobe on January 13-14. Kobe Municipal Government and others will hold welcome receptions honoring the delegations in order to express their appreciation for the assistance their countries extended in the aftermath of the 1995 Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake and to show the visitors the restoration attained by towns in Kobe City as well as to demonstrate the city's allure as a metropolitan convention site. The ASEM Meeting is designed to strengthen relations between Asia and Europe and to strengthen regional cooperation. Twenty five countries in both regions and the European Commission will attend the Kobe gathering.
The meeting will take up a wide range of economic issues confronting Asia and Europe, such as financial and foreign exchange problems.
