Kobe opens liaison office in China's Wuhan

Kobe Municipal Government on December 10 opened a liaison office in Wuhan, China's Hubei Province, which will serve as the base for promoting the ""Shanghai- Yangtze Valley Trade Promotion Project."" The purpose of the project is to expand exchange and trade with Shanghai and other cities along the Yangtze Valley, to accelerate the restoration of Kobe and other parts of the Hanshin area hard hit by a disastrous earthquake in January 1995, and to assist economic development in the Chinese region.
The ""liaison office"" will specifically 1) engage in marketing to local companies in cities along the Yangtze Valley, offer information on Kobe, and gather information on Chinese port and logistic systems, and 2) promote economic and cultural relations with ports and cities along the Yangtze Valley as part of ""the Shanghai-Yangtze Valley Trade Promotion Project.""
