2. Population Projections for Kansai
In the 15 years from 2005, the population of the Kansai region is expected to decrease by about 1,320,000 in total. By age group, a decrease of about 2,410,000 is anticipated among 15 to 64-year-olds, compared to an increase of 2,000,000 for those aged 65 and above. The aged population (65 and above) is estimated to reach 7,010,000, which would account for 29.6% of the total.
