A selection of famous local waters Water from many local areas can now be found in bottles. Here is a guide to readily available delicious Kansai waters. Chika Sanzenjaku (3,000 Feet Underground) -Osaka Prefecture- Source: zumi City (mineral water) The Izumi area has come to be known as a land of springs thanks to the many natural springs that have existed there since ancient times. This natural water bubbles up from some 3,000 feet underground, hence the name. It contains a variety of minerals as well as radon. Japan Dairy Association, Inc. TEL 0725-41-7111 Sweet Water of Iwama - Shiga Prefecture Source: Otsu City (natural mineral water) This amazing and noble water bubbles up between rocks from a point some 2,000 feet underground at the foot of Mt. TEL 077-537-3350 Gorogoro Waters - Nara Prefecture Source: Dorogawa, Tenkawa Village, Yoshino-gun (natural mineral water) This water flows from the Goyomatsu limestone cave near the Doro River in Tenkawa Village, a place notable for its karst topography. It was considered ñwater of the godsû?that flowed from a place believed to be sacred by the Shugendo sect of Buddhism and has been designated by the Environment Agency as one of Japan's 100 select fine waters. Meisui no Sato Corporation TEL 0120-56-5632 Water of Uriwari - Fukui Prefecture Source : Kaminaka Town, Onyu-gun (natural mineral water) This famous water, which bubbles forth deep in the forest of Tentokuji Temple, contains a nice balance of natural minerals. The source of the water is Uriwari Waterfall, which has been designated by the Environment Agency as one of Japan's 100 select fine waters. Nihon Junsui Corporation TEL 0770-62-2112 Guardian of the Forest -Mie Prefecture Source : Kasugadani, Miyagawa Village (natural water) This water is from the Mt. Odaigahara range, which at some 4,000 mm per year receives Japan's heaviest precipitation. The source is Miyagawa Village, nestled in the mountains and still 97% forested. Society to Protect the Forest and Water TEL 05987-7-2819 Zen -Kyoto Prefecture Source : Daimonji Hot Spring, Tokuzendani source (mineral water) This mineral water naturally flowing from a spring at the foot of Mt. Daimonji is bottled without additives at the source. It contains many minerals and other elements, including radon, carbonic acid ions, and calcium ions. Asahi KDM Corporation TEL 075-751-2277 Kobe Water -Hyogo Prefecture Source : Inside the Shin-Kobe Tunnel, Kobe City (natural mineral water) This natural water rich in minerals is purified naturally as it seeps through the granite of Mt. Rokko to a point 800 meters below the surface, a process that takes several months. Kobe Municipal Agricultural Park TEL 078-991-3911 Ryujin Natural Water -Wakayama Prefecture Source : Ryujin Village, Hidaka-gun (natural water) This pure water gushes forth from between rocks on Mt. Gomadan, which at 1,372 meters is known as the Roof of Kishu. Packed in cartons after heat treatment only, the water is a pure and natural water.
